CLICKS Workshop: “Strengthening the Implementation of Research for Climate Finance and Energy Transition”

About This Event
As climate change challenges become increasingly complex, the need for an integrated approach that connects research, policy, and implementation has become more critical than ever. In the context of Indonesia’s energy transition, climate finance plays a strategic role in mobilizing resources and enabling mitigation and adaptation efforts that are effective, sustainable, and inclusive. Academic institutions, research organizations, and civil society play a vital role in generating evidence-based knowledge to inform policymaking and decision-making processes. As research on climate finance and the energy transition continues to advance, there is a growing opportunity to enhance the uptake of research findings to generate broader impacts across public policy, industry practices, and public awareness.
Realizing this potential requires strengthening research capacity beyond methodological excellence alone. It also entails developing researchers’ ability to communicate findings effectively, engage diverse stakeholders, and translate scientific evidence into practical and policy-relevant recommendations. Such an approach enables research to better respond to emerging challenges while contributing meaningfully to policy development and the broader energy transition agenda.
Equally important is the integration of Gender and Socio-economic Inclusivity (GESEI) principles to ensure that both research and policy outcomes are inclusive and deliver equitable benefits across different segments of society. Embedding inclusivity throughout the research process not only broadens the reach and impact of research but also enhances analytical rigor and strengthens the relevance of policy recommendations in addressing diverse social and economic contexts.
As part of its commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s climate finance research and policy ecosystem, RECLICKS by the Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC) serves as a Center of Excellence dedicated to advancing research, capacity building, knowledge exchange, and policy advocacy in the fields of climate finance and energy transition. Established through a collaboration between the Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC) and the Flood Impacts, Carbon Pricing, and Ecosystem Sustainability (FINCAPES) Project, led by the University of Waterloo, Canada, the initiative seeks to enhance Indonesia’s institutional and research capacity to address climate change through comprehensive and sustainable solutions. In support of this mission, RECLICKS by PYC organized the CLICKS Workshop entitled “Strengthening Research Implementation for Climate Finance and Energy Transition,” providing a platform to strengthen research implementation, foster collaboration, and promote evidence-based approaches that contribute to Indonesia’s climate and energy transition priorities.
